ABOUT OUR FOUNDING MEMBER

ELGIN POLO, CPA, CVA, ABV

I am recognized as a forensic accountant and business valuation expert. I have been accepted as an expert in Federal Court and Florida courts. See the districts that we serve. I specialize in reviewing accounting prepared by other accountants/non-accountants and the corresponding tax filings with a very good eye to find errors or irregularities (i.e. Forensic Accounting).

I am commonly called to assist litigants ready for trial as well as those pre-suit and their attorneys to provide:

  • Analysis of accounting for a business, an estate, a trust, or a guardianship
  • Evaluations of business valuations or damages, such as lost profits.
  • Marital Property distribution (i.e. Equitable Distribution)
  • Alimony scenarios and child support computations
  • Client representation in mediation or arbitration
  • Expert witness testimony (ask me for my case list)

Services:

I really enjoy helping develop case strategy, evaluate and respond to opposing valuation assessments, and prepare exhibits or displays for use in court presentations.

Our team of professionals has been working to provide solid solutions for your personal planning and business strategy needs for over 30 years. All of our services are tailored to meet the diverse phases of your personal and business growth.

FORENSIC ACCOUNTING EXPERTISE

Financial Statement & Income Tax Analysis

Analyzing financial statements produced in discovery to support a position of true economic income. This may include adjustments as needed, such as "add backs".

Asset Tracing

Commonly used when determining marital assets vs non marital assets. Tracing may also be necessary when there are concealed assets.

Family Law Services (Divorce)

Common services provided include valuation of the marital estate, determination of income of the parties, and assistance in preparing schedules and exhibits needed for settlement conferences or ultimately expert witnesses at trial.

BUSINESS VALUATION EXPERTISE

Privately Held, Closely Held Companies

Determination of value of a family-owned business is necessary in all matters of either planning, litigation, or succession planning. We provide these types of services as needed, with an emphasis on valuations required for litigation (i.e. divorce or  shareholder breakup).

Minority Interest Positions

These business valuation services are necessary in determining fractional shares of a closely held company. These may include minority interest discounts, which we can assist in providing.

Intangible Assets

Included in the assets of a company are often items such as "good will". Our experts can assist in determining the value of these complicated assets.
